American Aquarium, Nathanial Rateliff, Afrobeta, Tedeschi Trucks Band and more
Each week, the JME team looks long and hard at the concert calendar to identify the best shows in Jacksonville. Our weekly Go recommendations are updated every Monday morning and are always available on jaxmusic.org.
Here’s the rundown of what JME contributors want to see and hear in and around Jacksonville this week.
American Aquarium – Monday, June 20
Ponte Vedra Concert Hall | Ponte Vedra
Raleigh, NC-brad alt-country faves American Aquarium continues their summer tour promoting their anthemic new offering — the 10-song Chicamacomico (out now on Thirty Tigers records) — with a stop at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall on Monday.
Nathanial Rateliff & The Night Sweats – Tuesday, June 21
St. Augustine Amphitheatre | St. Augustine
Throwback rhythm-and-blues act Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats stops at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. The band’s third-studio album, The Future, launched the Denver band from the upper-tier of the college-radio charts into full-blown mainstream stardom.

Synthy and dance-inducing Miami duo Afrobeta plays the Walrus in Murray Hill on Thursday, with support from local indie band Teal Peel.

Underbelly | Downtown Jax
Downtown Jax’s Underbelly hosts a heavy dose of metal (not all of it heavy metal), with the two night Jax Metal Fest, featuring Doomsday Reject, Dead Centre, Haunted, The Noctambulant, Malformity, Necromorphic, Carrion Curse, Saturnine and more.
Tedeschi Trucks Band – Friday, June 24
Daily’s Place | Downtown Jax
Hometown heroes, the inimitable Susan and Derek Trucks bring their top-flight band to Daily’s Place on Friday.
