Köln 75

“You don’t need to be a Keith Jarrett fan to enjoy Köln 75, but for anyone who is, the movie is a savory anecdote that colors in his fluky rapture.” – Variety

Köln 75 is a 2025 German music-drama directed by Ido Fluk. This film tells the incredible true story of 18-year-old concert promoter Vera Brandes (played by Mala Emde), who defied the odds to orchestrate Keith Jarrett’s legendary, entirely improvised 1975 performance at the Cologne Opera House. Despite facing numerous obstacles that threatened to turn the concert into a disaster, Brandes’s determination led to what would become the best-selling solo jazz and piano album in history, The Köln Concert. Featuring a compelling performance by John Magaro as Jarrett, this film offers an intimate look at the dedication, tension, and artistry behind one of music’s most iconic moments.
