  • Digital Content Editor

    The WJCT digital content editor oversees, drives, curates and edits content for digital platforms including WJCTNews.org, the WJCT mobile app and social media. It’s a creative position that, for the right person, will involve original journalism, collaborative work, video and other multi-media production.

    Essential duties:

    • Independently enterprise stories from idea to final product
    • Help newsroom staff think in terms of creative multimedia presentation/ Assign multimedia elements to reporters
    • Edit web copy using AP style
    • Edit photos, graphics and video
    • Keep track of breaking news and post updates online
    • Plan and produce live coverage, including on election nights
    • Use social media to promote stories, give breaking news updates, and interact with the WJCT audience
    • Monitor metrics to measure and interpret user behavior; shift strategy in response
    • Represent WJCT at public events and appear on air during pledge drives as needed
    • Create daily email newsletter of top news stories

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
    • At least two (2) years’ experience in journalism
    • Ability and willingness to mentor staff in innovative and creative digital practices on a daily basis
    • Strong editorial judgment
    • Understanding of journalistic ethics
    • Familiarity with a variety of computer systems and software, including web publishing and social media
    • Some knowledge of HTML
    • Skill in copy-editing
    • Skill in online writing
    • Knowledge of graphic design
    • Ability to shoot and edit photos and video
    • Ability to lead projects from concept to completion
    • Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadline pressure
    • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
    • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
    • Ability to adapt to changes in equipment, software and workflow

    Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of AP style
    • Knowledge and understanding of regional news and culture
    • Knowledge of best practices for search engine optimization (SEO)
    • Digital audio editing skills
    • Data visualization skills
    • Passionate advocacy for the digital transformation of public media
    • Understanding of the potential for growth in public radio’s digital audience

  • Content Distribution Specialist

    Position will control, program and oversee the broadcast systems that manage JCT Services LLC.’s digital assets and distribute content over various platforms.


    • High School diploma &/or equivalent; prefer Associates degree.
    • 2+ years applicable broadcast experience with training in master control operations and traffic.
    • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proven computer aptitude.
    • Clear ability to multitask and prioritize while working under tight deadlines.
    • An ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly.
    • A “can-do” customer service attitude; previous experience working with clients.
    • Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
    • Must be able to work a day, night, or weekend shift with the ability to move into an alternate shift if needed; as well as overtime & holidays.*
    • SBE certification preferred or the ability to earn SBE certification within one year of hire.
    • PBS experience a plus.
    • Knowledge of Grass Valley iControl and iTX a plus.
    • Knowledge of ProTrack a plus.

    *The qualified candidate (s) must able to work a day, evening (4 pm – midnight) or overnight (midnight to 8:30) shift.

  • On-Call Production Crew

    We are looking for individuals who would like to be a part of our on-call crew pool which assists with studio productions and other WJCT events and activities. If you have experience with:

    • camera operation and other television equipment such as CG, prompter;
    • studio production set-up , scenery construction and maintenance;
    • lighting, working as an audio assistant;
    • general facilities support (non-production);
    • working flexible schedules to include nights and weekends.

    WJCT provides internship opportunities during which students are provided a learning environment with “real life” work experience in support of their educational and personal goals.

    Typical requirements for consideration include:

    • Be at least 18 years of age;
    • Be enrolled in or sponsored by an accredited college or university;
    • Matriculated to the junior years by the start of the internship period;
