  • President/Chief Executive Officer

    WJCT is a joint licensee community public broadcasting station (PBS and NPR affiliate) in northeast Florida, and has served as an indispensable resource for the First Coast for almost 60 years. Our long term President/CEO is retiring at the end of the 2017 calendar year, so we are seeking an energetic, visionary leader with excellent strategic and managerial skills and a proven track record in fundraising and community engagement to both continue our tradition of excellence while leading us into the increasing digital future. In partnership with the Board of Trustees, the President/CEO will continue our success of weaving our mission, vision and values into the fabric of the communities we serve.

    Position Summary:

    The incumbent in this position will provide oversight in guiding the day–to-day operations of both WJCT Inc. and JCT Services LLC insuring organizational effectiveness and efficiencies. Working with the Board of Trustees and staff, the incumbent will provide leadership in the formulation of short and long term strategies in keeping with WJCT’s mission, vision and values and promote those strategies throughout the organization. They will advance the interests and well-being of the organization by being a prominent member in local and industry related communities, creating successful and strategic relationships with influential leaders and members of those communities and leveraging those relationships to enhance support for WJCT. This position will play an instrumental role in all aspects of revenue generation and fundraising.

    Skills & Knowledge:

    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and strengths as a presenter to both small and large groups
    • A thoughtful leader who inspires others and is committed to and welcomes divergent opinions and promotes open discussion of ideas
    • An individual who possesses penetrating insight and strong strategic and critical thinking skills
    • Our candidate will have strong financial management experience and be able to demonstrate success in fundraising
    • A Bachelor’s degree in the field of digital media, marketing or business administration, advanced degree preferred, &/or sufficient relevant experience in the broadcasting management area
    • A minimum of ten years’ experience in the area of broadcast/digital operations including but not limited to: radio and television production and engineering, marketing, finance and accounting, development, organizational and human resource administration and short and long range planning

    WJCT is a locally owned and operated community service organization serving the First Coast since 1958, which uses its platforms of on-air, online, and outreach as free, universally accessible resources for citizens to learn, share and grow as a community. WJCT content genres include news and public affairs, arts and culture, history and science, community outreach, children’s educational programming and local impact and outreach. WJCT operates 5 unique TV channels, 4 radio channels and multiple digital platforms. Its principal broadcast coverage area is the 5 counties that make up northeast Florida, reaching more than 1.3 million citizens.     JCT Services, LLC is a for-profit affiliate of WJCT, Inc. in Jacksonville, Florida. WJCT took the lead in the development of both the business and technical plan for the creation of the broadcast operations center, the successful development of the CPB grant and the recruitment of the other ten Digital Convergence Alliance (DCA) member stations.   • Broadcast Traffic Coordinator

    The Broadcast Traffic Coordinator will schedule and maintain all aspects of programs and interstitials for multiple channels within the Hub traffic system according to Spoke stations instructions. This position is located at the Broadcast Operations Center of the Digital Convergence Alliance (DCA), which currently serves over 16 million TV households in over 11 television markets.

    Responsibilities:

    • Implement and acquire programs and program schedules
    • Initiate and update all interstitial material
    • Perform sales contracts, flights and strategically optimize sales inventory
    • Generate, modify and publish broadcast logs
    • Schedule and manipulate interstitials utilizing flights and standard administration
    • Operate Myers ProTrack traffic and Grass Valley Itx automation systems

    Qualifications:

    • High School diploma &/or equivalent, prefer Associated degree
    • 2+ years applicable broadcast experience with training in traffic and master control operations
    • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Proven computer aptitude
    • Clear ability to multitask and prioritize while working under pressure and tight deadlines
    • An ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly
    • A “can-do” customer service attitude; previous experience working with clients
    • Proven ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
    • Must be able to work during the day with the ability to work nights and/or weekends if needed, as well as overtime & holidays
    • PBS experience a plus
    • Knowledge of Myers ProTrack a plus
    • Knowledge of Grass Valley iTX a plus

  • Content Distribution Specialist

    Position will control, program and oversee the broadcast systems that manage JCT Services LLC.’s digital assets and distribute content over various platforms.

    Qualifications:

    • High School diploma &/or equivalent; prefer Associates degree.
    • 2+ years applicable broadcast experience with training in master control operations and traffic.
    • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proven computer aptitude.
    • Clear ability to multitask and prioritize while working under tight deadlines.
    • An ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly.
    • A “can-do” customer service attitude; previous experience working with clients.
    • Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
    • Must be able to work a day, night, or weekend shift with the ability to move into an alternate shift if needed; as well as overtime & holidays.*
    • SBE certification preferred or the ability to earn SBE certification within one year of hire.
    • PBS experience a plus.
    • Knowledge of Grass Valley iControl and iTX a plus.
    • Knowledge of ProTrack a plus.

    *The qualified candidate (s) must able to work a day, evening (4 pm – midnight) or overnight (midnight to 8:30) shift.

  • On-Call Crew (Part-Time/As Needed)

    We are looking for individuals who would like to be a part of our on-call, as needed crew pool which assists with in-house and offsite events, studio productions, building operations and other WJCT and client events. Candidates must be willing and able to perform both studio and building operations activities which include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Ability to provide general facilities support (non-production) which may include set-up and break-down of tables, chairs and other ​event ​related items;
    • Experience with camera operation and other television equipment such as CG, prompter;
    • Experience with studio production set-up, scenery construction and maintenance;
    • Experience with lighting, working as an audio assistant preferred;
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends;
    • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
