DVD - Easy Yoga for Arthritis with Peggy Cappy
This DVD includes Peggy's fifth yoga special produced for PBS, Easy Yoga For Arthritis with Peggy Cappy. In this dramatic 40-minute program, you'll meet men and women, young and old alike, whose lives have been dramatically helped by Peggy's classes. Filmed in the historic town of Peterborough, New Hampshire, you'll see her sell-out classes in action -- and you'll also learn how Peggy and her fellow classmates have made yoga and meditation and relaxation a vital part of their daily routine.
Extra Material. Home Workout Program: The DVD also includes a yoga program that Peggy has designed for you to use at home. She'll demonstrate movements designed to bring greater mobility and range of motion to the joints. The movements will also stretch and strengthen both the muscles and connective tissue that support our joints. For those challenged by arthritis, or even just the stiffness that seems to come with age or injury, this program will also prove highly effective. You'll also learn how the practice of yoga can positively affect all aspects of your being: mind, body, emotion and spirit.
Peggy will also focus on our breathing as well, as she teaches all of us to pay attention to the sensations that arise during and after the yoga poses and other movements. This attention will bring you into the present moment -- and through repeated focus doing various yoga poses, you will develop a greater understanding of both your body and your inner self.
As with her other videos, Peggy has divided this program into small, easy-to-use segments. Time permitting, you can do the entire program all at once -- or select one of two segments at a time.
· Segment 1. Takes you through warm-ups --gentle but powerful movements to loosen and warm your shoulders, neck and back, legs and feet.
· Segment 2. Warm-ups for the hands, wrists, and arms in a section of its own.
· Segments 3 & 4. Covers the important standing poses -- first done individually, then as part of a yoga flow.
· Segments 5 & 6. Done on the floor with poses seated and reclining.
· Segment 7. Includes some deep relaxation exercises. This all important section covers meditation and relaxation -- two pursuits that do so much to deal with our reaction to stress.
What makes this video program especially unique is the inclusion of three varieties of yoga poses. One version is done in a seated position for all seven sections, to help those who have trouble standing. The second variation demonstrates the use of a chair which can aid balance and alignment. The third version consists of traditional poses without any modifications.
Peggy feels the most important advice she can give you is "to set aside time for yourself to do this easy and gentle yoga routine on a daily basis. She promises that health and happiness can be yours, and all you have to do is get started!
