The Port of Jacksonville, from Dames Point to Talleyrand, is considered by some to be the economic engine that will drive growth in the area for years to come. Recent agreements with Asian shipping companies are already beginning to bring more ships and containers to the port, and thousands of new, high-paying jobs could be the eventual result. But to fully realize the ports’ potential, the St. Johns River will need extensive dredging, and costly infrastructure improvements will be needed on the city’s north side. How will all of this impact the First Coast?
