Parenting Counts, from the Talaris Institute of Seattle, is research based information for parents of children,
ages birth to five. Focused on bonding, brain development and social-emotional development, Parenting Counts helps
parents understand the importance of parenting in the early years. Every parent wants to know if they are doing the
right things for their children. But how do you know what they need or what is good for them? After all, kids don't
come with instruction manuals! By learning how children think, feel and learn parents are more capable of helping their
children grow in healthy ways. Research tells us that the bond between a parent and child is created in the first five years.
This parental bond is the foundation for all learning and the foundation for all relationships developed later in the child's life.
