Honorary Chair 2009

Kathleen Murray
Vice President, Patient Care Services
Baptist Health
Kathleen Murray is recognized among her peers as a compassionate, competent leader who balances accountability with caring.
With more than 25 years of extensive and diversified experience in university teaching and community hospital settings, she is expert in medical staff relations, strategic planning, program development, patient and employee satisfaction and nursing education.
As vice president of Baptist Medical Center’s Patient Care Services, Murray is responsible for all patient-related activities and operations, including Perioperative, Emergency, Cardiovascular, Baptist Heart Hospital, Clinical Practice, Oncology and Radiation, and Women’s Services.
Murray is considered one of the most significant contributors to Baptist Health’s earning designation as a Magnet™ Health Care System, an international recognition for clinical excellence, awarded by American Nurses Credentialing Center attained by only five percent of hospitals in the Untied States.
Possessing a quiet confidence that belies her strength, her leadership was paramount in the success of the extraordinary three-year long cooperative effort of demonstrating nursing achievement in patient care, nurse satisfaction, quality improvement and research within the health system of 8,000+ employees.
She recently coordinated Baptist Health’s successful system-wide Chest Pain Center accreditation, a model in which cardiologists, emergency physicians, critical care nurses, emergency medical services and others within the community work side-by-side to provide standardized, proven and time-dependent treatment of heart attacks.
In the case of both, Murray is recognized as a major behind-the-scenes force in helping secure the support and commitment of leadership, physicians, nurses and employees, without which the achievements would not have been possible.
