Rules
The Fine Print: Bidding Rules & Procedures
- You must be 18 years of age or older to place a bid.
- If you see something you wish to bid on during The WJCT Auction, call (904) 358-9528. One of our volunteer operators will answer your call. To make a bid, give the item number and on–air title.
- Bidding increases must be at or above the minimum posted starting value.
- Your operator will tell you the highest bid posted so far. When you place your maximum bid, it is advisable to make it as high as you want to go. Remember that other bids will be phoned in during the sale of the item on air.
- Once you place your bid, you must hang up. If at any point you wish to increase your bid, please call again and place another bid.
- If yours is the high bid, a confirming operator will call you within three to five hours after the on–air announcement or the next morning if the item was sold at a late hour. The operator also will give you instructions for picking up your item. If the confirming operator is unable to reach you or your authorized representative within that time, the item may have to be offered to the next highest bidder.
- A bid is only the confirmed high bid when a WJCT Auction representative has spoken directly to confirm this with the high bidder. Voicemail messages are not a confirmation of a high bid.
- Most items are presented just once with a short recap. Items that are of greater value may be shown more than once.
- WJCT reserves the right to withdraw any property at any time before the actual sale.
- Lots will be sold to the highest bidder at the full amount of the successful sealed or telephoned bid. In the case of duplicate bids, the earliest bid received will be the one accepted.
- WJCT reserves the right to reject a bid from any bidder. The highest bidder acknowledged by WJCT shall be the purchaser. In the event of any doubt on the part of WJCT as to the validity of any bid, WJCT shall have the sole and final discretion to determine the successful bidder. If any dispute arises after the sale, the WJCT sale record shall be conclusive in all respects.
- Successful bids will be confirmed by telephone shortly after the on–air announcement of sale. WJCT reserves the right to dispose of the property in any manner it deems appropriate if the successful bidder or authorized representative cannot be reached by telephone within a reasonable period of the announcement of sale on air. WJCT reserves the right to dispose of the property in any manner it deems appropriate if the successful bidder does not remove the property within the agreed–upon period of time.
- Either you or a representative must be reachable by phone at the time of the sale announcement in order to complete the sale.
Removal of Property
- If you are a confirmed high bidder during The WJCT Auction, wait 24 hours after being confirmed before coming to the WJCT Auction Pick Up and Pay. We encourage charging your item(s) in order to reserve the item(s). If items are not paid for, the next bidder will be contacted to purchase the items.
- WJCT reserves the right to dispose of the property in any manner it deems appropriate if the successful bidder does not remove the property within the agreed–upon period of time. Items are not returnable.
