FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions:
When is the next WJCT Auction?
The WJCT auction is held two times a year. The Travel & Entertainment Auction is held in January and the Great Television Auction is held in June.
What is a Quick Bid Number and how do I get one?
A Quick Bid Number makes bidding faster. Your name, address, phone numbers and credit card information are kept on file so that you don’t need to repeat that information every time you bid. Call the Auction office at (904) 358-6390 for more information or to sign up.
Can I place bids Online?
Currently bidding is only available over the phone. However, WJCT is working towards online bidding for the Travel & Entertainment Auction in 2009.
How do I volunteer at Auction?
There are a number of volunteer opportunities for individuals and community groups before, during and after each auction. Call us at (904) 358-6396 for year–round information.
What are the Auction office hours?
The Auction office is open Monday–Friday from 9am–5pm.
Where is the Auction office located?
The Auction Office is located at the WJCT Studios in Jacksonville. We are located directly across from Jacksonville Municipal Stadium at 100 Festival Park Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida, 32202.
When and where can I deliver donations?
You can deliver donations to the WJCT studios any time Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
How do I know what is on the Auction? Is there a printed catalog?
We do not have a printed catalog of all auction items. Most items can be found on the auction Web site prior to each auction.
How is the retail value of donations set?
Retail values are determined by the donor.
Is my donation/purchase tax–deductible?
Auction donations are fully deductible as allowed by law. How the law applies to you and your donation is for your tax advisor to decide. Auction purchases are not usually deductible unless you pay over the value. If you have any further questions, please check with your tax attorney.
When do I get a receipt of my donation?
Your Auction receipt is mailed within two weeks of the end of each auction. If you have not received your letter, please call the Auction Office at (904) 358-6359.
When will my item be on air?
We are not able to tell you exactly when an item will be on air. All items are showed live during the telecast.
Can I bid if I am working as volunteer?
We appreciate the enthusiasm and support that is shown by our Auction volunteers. To insure that no one has an unfair advantage during Auction, bidding is not allowed from anywhere in the WJCT Studios or buildings on WJCT property. Feel free to have someone from home watch and bid on your behalf.
Can I preview Auction items?
Selected Auction items can be previewed online through the Auction home page. (Check back often as items are added regularly until the Auction goes on air.)
How do I find out the current high bid on an item during Auction?
You can call the Auction hotline at (904) 358-6362 during the on-air auction.
How do I know if I am the Announced High Bidder?
If you are the high bidder on an item, you will be contacted by phone within three to five hours or the next morning if the item was auctioned off at a late hour. You are not the high bidder unless you are contacted by a member of the WJCT Auction Confirmation Team.
When and where can I pick up my item, or can it be shipped?
When you are confirmed as the high bidder, you will be contacted about making arrangements to receive your item. Gift certificates are shipped via signature confirmation for a one-time fee of $9.00, charged to your credit card. Your item will be shipped within one week of the end of auction.
Items can be picked up at the WJCT studios during business hours.
