WJCT-TV Announces “Summer of Intrigue” and Summer Schedule Changes

“History Detectives” Moves to New Tuesday Night Slot on June 21
(Jacksonville, FL, June 15, 2011); WJCT-TV welcomes viewers to a “Summer of Intrigue” and announces summer schedule changes. Beginning Sunday, June 19, WJCT will present a series of all-new episodes from Masterpiece Mystery! featuring a trio of super sleuths – Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, and newcomer Aurelio Zen, played by Rufus Sewell. Starting June 20, Antiques Roadshow will treat viewers to a double whammy of appraisals and antiques, airing at both 8 and 9 p.m. on Monday nights throughout the summer. Beginning June 21, History Detectives moves from Mondays to Tuesday nights at 8 p.m., and launches its ninth season.

Masterpiece Mystery!
Poirot XI. David Suchet returns as suave Belgian super-sleuth Hercule Poirot in three brand-new mysteries based on the novels by Agatha Christie. (Sundays, June 19-July 3 from 9-10:30 p.m. on WJCT-TV)
Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple, Series V. Acclaimed British actress Julia McKenzie stars as the beloved spinster sleuth Miss Marple in a new episode of the popular Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple series. (Sunday, July 10 from 9-10:30 p.m.)
Zen. What does an honest cop do when his bosses are on the side of the lawbreakers? Outwitting prosecutors, politicians, mobsters, and run-of-the-mill kidnappers and killers, Detective Aurelio Zen brings justice to modern-day Italy, whether the authorities want it or not, in a trio of spellbinding cases based on the bestselling novels by Michael Dibdin. (Sundays, July 17-31 from 9-10:30 p.m.)
History Detectives
America’s top gumshoes are back to prove once again that an object found in an attic or backyard might be anything but ordinary. Hosts include Wesley Cowan, independent appraiser and auctioneer; Gwendolyn Wright, historian and professor of architecture, Columbia University; Elyse Luray, independent appraiser and expert in art history; Dr. Eduardo Pagan, professor of history and American studies at Arizona State University; and Tukufu Zuberi, professor of sociology and the director of the Center for Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. Each week, they travel around the country to explore the stories behind local folklore, prominent figures and family legends. (Tuesdays from 8-9 p.m., beginning June 21)
