Five Music Programs Join Lineup Beginning Sunday, October 2
WJCT has announced changes to its radio music schedule, effective October 2. After a full day of news and information on 89.9 WJCT-FM, listeners can tune to “After Hours” for a full night of local and national music programming, beginning at 7 p.m. The revised radio schedule features a new lineup of local programming on Sunday nights and adds five late-night programs from UNF’s Osprey Radio. WJCT is pleased to present local classical music from 7-8 p.m. on Monday nights, with 89.9 Presents the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra returning on October 24, after its summer hiatus.
Sunday night programs on 89.9 WJCT-FM include Doo Wop Revival (8-9 p.m.) and Best of This Is Jazz (9-11 p.m.), a compilation of favorite segments from WJCT’s long-running all-jazz radio program. The two local programs replace NPR’s World of Opera, which is leaving the schedule.
On weekdays, the “After Hours” block begins at 7 p.m. with Performance Today, a program from American Public Media featuring live concerts from venues around the globe. WJCT’s local programs include Electro Lounge, a two-hour musical journey featuring “chill out” music that airs five nights a week, along with a variety of weekly programs that include the critically acclaimed Blues Horizon, Indie Endeavor and This Is Jazz. The new “After Hours” lineup also includes five music programs from UNF’s Osprey Radio, airing Sunday to Thursday late night (Mondays-Friday from 12-1 a.m.), and featuring five musical genres – jazz, metal, indie, techno and world pop. WJCT’s local programs are hosted by local voices, and many showcase local artists.
“We are pleased to expand our local music programming, bringing new voices and musical experiences, often featuring local artists, to our First Coast listeners,” says WJCT President and CEO Michael Boylan. “Our ‘After Hours’ music programs not only complement our daytime lineup of news and information programming, but now make locally originated programming the largest source of content found on 89.9 WJCT-FM.”
A new schedule and program descriptions are included with this release.
