WJCT Announces New Community Advisory Board Officers, Presents Volunteer Award
September 27, 2011
WJCT Public Broadcasting recently announced new officers of its Community Advisory Board (CAB), the organization that gives voice to community viewpoints and concerns. Natasha Chapman will serve as CAB chair during the 2012 fiscal year, which begins October 1. Rena Coughlin will serve as vice chair.
New CAB members for the 2012 fiscal year are: Trey Csar, Demetrius Jenkins and Will Montoya.
WJCT also announced that the CAB had presented its annual John J. Kelly, Jr., Volunteer of the Year Award to James and Pam Picray in recognition of their service to WJCT. “We’re pleased to recognize the Picrays for their extraordinary volunteer service through the years,” says WJCT President and CEO Michael Boylan. “Pam is a second-generation volunteer, who first came to the station with her mother as a young auction volunteer. Together, the Picrays have contributed countless hours, and can still be seen at nearly every station event.”
Comprised of a diverse group of First Coast citizens, the CAB participates in discussions at the decision-making level to give the community a voice in WJCT’s programming and activities. In particular, the CAB focuses on prioritizing critical community issues and helping WJCT create local civic engagement programming to effect positive change. The CAB also seeks to identify opportunities that allow WJCT to maximize the impact of its national programming while augmenting local programs, events and initiatives.
A complete list of CAB members is attached.
