  • News Director - FM

    This position leads and manages the planning, production and presentation of the news on multiple platforms (primarily radio and online). He/she will supervise newsroom staff and work in tandem with station leadership to support the mission and vision of WJCT.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field
    • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in journalism – preferably in a multi-platform (radio + web) news environment
    • Newsroom management experience preferred
    • Broad knowledge of local and regional issues
    • Familiarity with public radio news programming standards and values
    • Strong interest in news and public affairs
    • Web and social media skills preferred
    • Working knowledge of FCC rules and regulations
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Proven ability to coach and lead staff
  • Associate Content Producer

    The purpose of the Associate Producer is to produce content for multiple platforms (TV,Radio, and Online). The Associate Producer must be proficient in shooting video, recording audio, editing, researching, writing, and scheduling assigned projects from conception to post-production. Individual must be organized, creative, and technically proficient in the development, production and distribution of content across all platforms.

    General Duties

    • Operate field and studio cameras and audio recording systems.
    • Produce and edit programs and program segments for radio, television and online.
    • Direct live television programs and run the board for live radio programs.
    • Formulate ideas, book guests, coordinate with hosts and deliver compelling public broadcasting content.
    • Source video files, music and other elements to support interview segments.
    • Attend and contribute to program planning meetings.
    • Re-purpose existing programming for cross-platform applications.
    • Upload radio and television programming to the web and input program metadata.
    • Maintain equipment packages.
    • Conduct research and write.
    • Other duties as assigned &/or required


    • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, or Communications &/or equivalent relevant work experience.

    Skills and Experience

    • Ability to consistently and effectively shoot video that is technically correct and visually interesting.
    • Ability to gather broadcast-quality audio in the field or in the studio.
    • Ability to edit programs and program segments for various content streams in accordance with standard industry practices.
    • Thorough working knowledge of professional video cameras, digital audio recorders, and related equipment.
    • Theoretical and practical knowledge of television lighting principles and practices.
    • Thorough understanding of nonlinear editing process.
    • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud applications including:
      Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop,
      Audition, Speed Grade, and Media Encoder
    • Excellent research and writing skills.
    • Very strong proficiency using computer and Microsoft Office products.
    • Superior oral and written communication skills.
    • Experience in the production of programs for TV, Radio and online preferred.
  • Manager Technology & Operations

    Position is a working Manager/Chief Engineer who will work with the VP of Content & Operations to provide input for station-wide planning, evaluation, acquisition, installation and maintenance of materials and resources which support broadcast and non-broadcast operations. Position will also have oversight of general building operations to include I.T.


    • AS Degree &/or high school diploma and equivalent related technical (broadcast) experience
    • 5 years of directly related experience, (1) of which will have been in a management capacity including staff oversight and planning & budgeting. Experience dealing with federal regulations governing television and radio broadcasting preferred
    • Experience working in a broadcast environment and possess understanding of technology-based broadcast systems, which could include high power transmitters and network infrastructure
    • A high level of personal integrity reflected in oral and written communication, decision making and a commitment to customer service
    • A keen understanding of business needs, market trends, latest technology and technology forecasting
    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure with the capacity to effectively manage complex projects, multiple budgets and meet or exceed deadlines
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate or articulate technical challenges to non-technical staff
    • Working knowledge of FCC rules and regulations
    • Flexibility to oversee as well as personally meet operational needs
    • Solid problem solving abilities to include contingency planning skills
    • Must be willing to be a part of the emergency on-call rotation (duty phone) which will include nights and weekends
  • Digital Content Editor

    This position is responsible for the editing, creation, curation, and implementation of day-to-day news and information on WJCTNews.org and other station related social media. The Digital Content Editor will provide input to VP of Content and Operations to develop and support a social media strategy that serves WJCT’s goals for content and engagement across multiple social platforms.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, or Communications preferred &/or equivalent relevant work experience
    • Minimum of one+ years of digital content creation and web publishing experience in a broadcast or digital news environment
    • Knowledge of all facets of online content production, including writing for web, copy editing, graphic design and prefer those with HTML, photography, and audio/video production skills
    • Proven editorial judgment, with a commitment to standards of objectivity, balance and fairness. This position requires solid communication skills to both internal and external audiences
    • Ability to track multiple projects, work under deadline pressure, communicate across departments, and respond effectively to diverse and challenging circumstances
    • Experience with social media platforms preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to take direction and work collaboratively as well as independently with minimal supervision
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends depending on breaking news cycle and fundraising commitments is required
    • Excellent research, writing, editing and proofreading skills. Knowledge of the mechanics of Standard English grammar and AP style
    • Broad interest in and knowledge of Jacksonville area arts, culture, and issues of concern to the region and current events
  • On-Call Production Crew

    We are looking for individuals who would like to be a part of our on-call crew pool which assists with studio productions and other WJCT events and activities. If you have experience with:

    • camera operation and other television equipment such as CG, prompter;
    • studio production set-up , scenery construction and maintenance;
    • lighting, working as an audio assistant;
    • general facilities support (non-production);
    • working flexible schedules to include nights and weekends.
