  • Vice President JCT Services-NOC

    Vice President of JCT Services, LLC – This individual leads a team of technology and operational support staff in the continuing development, implementation and operation of a network operations center (“NOC”) or broadcast hub which provides reliable, accurate and cost-effective consolidated digital services to public television stations throughout the country. The Vice President oversees the day-to-day operation, ensuring effective and efficient use of resources, formulates long range plans and goals aligned with the mission of JCT Services while developing new business opportunities that contribute to the growth of its parent corporation, WJCT Inc.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Exercise independent judgment and creative problem solving techniques in a highly challenging business environment.
    • Develop, submit and manage capital and operating budgets.
    • Administer, identify and develop technical specifications and supporting narrative for equipment acquisition and for submission of Federal, State and local grants opportunities for replacement and expansion equipment.
    • Assist in the development of the strategic plan for both the JCT Services division and the WJCT organization.
    • Partner with member stations, manufacturers and vendors to develop new and innovative technology solutions in order to provide cost savings to members stations.
    • Manage technically advanced projects that require collaboration with multiple partners.
    • Represent JCT Services at PBS committee meetings and external industry forums.
    • Author newsletters, articles, case studies, papers, presentations and other documents.
    • Select, supervise and evaluate the performance of staff to meet priorities and support strategies that contribute to JCT Services’ mission, goals and objectives.
    • Serves as a member of the WJCT Senior Management team and advisor to WJCT staff on technical projects.
    • Qualifications (Education/Skills & Experience/Licenses):

      Education

    • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline or equivalent professional experience (10 years successful electronic management experience).
    • Progressively responsible leadership roles and experiences.
    • Required Skills and Experience

    • Ten (10) years’ experience in broadcasting engineering management.
    • Analytical—must be able to quickly synthesize large amounts of complex or diverse information and make decisions in a timely manner.
    • Problem solving—identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
    • Oral communication—speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrates group presentation skills and conducts productive meetings.
    • Delegation—when appropriate delegates work assignments, gives authority to work independently, sets expectations and monitors delegated activities.
    • Leadership—inspires and motivates others to perform; comfortable with giving and receiving feedback to/from others.
    • Management skills—includes staff in planning, decision-making, and process improvement; open door policy; provides regular performance feedback; develops and encourages subordinates’ skills and growth.
    • Quality management—looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
    • Judgment—displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment, and makes timely decisions.
    • Fiscal Management – demonstrates the ability to apply sound business practices and fiscal restraint in the course of performing duties.

  • On-Call Production Crew

    We are looking for individuals who would like to be a part of our on-call crew pool which assists with studio productions and other WJCT events and activities. If you have experience with:

    • camera operation and other television equipment such as CG, prompter;
    • studio production set-up , scenery construction and maintenance;
    • lighting, working as an audio assistant;
    • general facilities support (non-production);
    • working flexible schedules to include nights and weekends.

  • Internships at WJCT

    WJCT provides internship opportunities during which students are provided a learning environment with “real life” work experience in support of their educational and personal goals.

    Typical requirements for consideration include:

    • Be at least 18 years of age;
    • Be enrolled in or sponsored by an accredited college or university;
    • Matriculated to the junior years by the start of the internship period;
    • Be seeking course credit or fulfillment of additional community/college requirements;
    • Pursuing a major that relates to the products and services provided by WJCT.
