Orange Park High School Closed For The Day Due To Bomb Threat

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is wrapping up its search of Orange Park High School.

Classes were canceled for the day after a bomb threat was emailed to school administrators around 6 this morning.

CCSO spokeswoman Mary Justino says once the campus has been cleared, teachers will be asked to do a quick check of their areas.

Jacksonville Railroad Companies’ Stock Downgraded As Industry Slides

Two local railroad companies have seen their stock prices fall as the industry sector slides overall.

CSX Corp.’s stock has dropped about 8 and a half percent over the past week. On Monday , it fell almost three percent from the opening bell, closing at 26.03.

The fall comes as the railroad sector has generally weakened. On Friday, a Bank of America analyst downgraded CSX and Genesse & Wyoming, which has its operations headquarters in Jacksonville.

Genesee & Wyoming’s price per share dropped from almost $70 last Tuesday to $58.89 at Monday’s close.

North Florida Conservationists Press Duval Delegation On Amendment 1

Jacksonville conservationists are urging Duval County lawmakers to use more Amendment 1 money to buy conservation land around the First Coast.

The pleas at Monday’s Duval Delegation meeting came amidst an ongoing court battle pitting environmentalists against state officials who say the money was spent correctly.

One environmental preservation group says it’s losing projects as a direct result of what it calls a misappropriation of state funds.
